Vonnie has been promised this cover |
Here I'm adding mostly covers I haven't done for Jimmy, or cover designs that have sold to other authors. These are from a folder I call "Half-Baked Ideas" because they started from something but don't necessarily have a home or story to go with them. Where you see odd words like Chocolate Box or Bow: Those are the names of the fonts I've chosen so I don't have to go through my inventory of 11,000 fonts when I can't remember what I used.
I guess I should add a list of authors with covers I've done, and the links. I'll do that next.
The names and titles here are of non-existent books and authors. Or me. Or Vonnie is real, and someday she hopes to write this story- Wisps of Summer. Here are a few designs that are for sale, or are just experiments. Some are jokes. Cover art is fun- it's not just for money. I love trying to express the uniqueness of an author's story in the cover, yet while not telling so much of the story that the reader no longer feels the need to read the book.
I have an idea for this. Even the first few lines. |
One of my favorites. Why won't someone write this story? |
For a Traditional Regency |
My theory of cover art? The cover is the book's first page. Its job is to draw the reader and entice him/her to look further. It should say just enough about the story that the reader sees a connection to the kind of story she loves to read.
Georgian England Magic? |
A historical romantic suspense, maybe? Tiny West Indies island? |
Reminds me of a 1930's travel poster. |
I'll be adding more, probably changing the images entirely. Maybe next time, more contemporary designs. So return browsing is encouraged.
And yes, I do "alterations". And custom designs. Let me know what you want and if it's feasible for me within your budget, let's give it a go!
A sequel to Siren, I think. |
This design will go to Heather Hiestand |
I only use royalty-free, pubic domain or my own art unless I obtain specific permission to use a piece, such as a photo provided by the author. In all cases, I do my utmost to honor the rights of others to receive the benefits of their hard work.
This seems to belong to Davy Polruhan, the hero's adversary in Sins of the Heart |
